Trials and Tribulations - Vintage Allure

Last weekend I finally christened Vintage Allure finished, celebrating with several coats of Lascaux fixative. Ah, it feels good to finish and this piece was something I was really happy with. Although it wasn't exactly what I  had in mind ( I will try it again) I was pleased with the outcome. So, after spraying several coats over the weekend I had set her aside, to "cure" before removing her from the board.

After working on a different painting all day Monday, I called it a night, and head downstairs to fix dinner....

I hear a bang....

thud.....

 crash....

and....

I find this...

I can fix it, I can fix it, I WILL fix it.... stay tuned.

*sigh*

Calling This One Done!

I haven't decided on a title yet, but I'm pretty sure this is done. (All except my siggy ;) )

The colored pencil over oil was fun, but not especially easy to do. The entire surface is covered with  colored pencil, honest. I did resort to blending with a solvent.  I might even do this again sometime, I do like the way it turned out.
Usually when I lay out a drawing, a title will kind of evolve, but not this time. *sigh* I have a hard time naming them after they are complete. Buggers.

Ah well... I shall think about it more.  Any ideas?

Wild Horses of the Heber Wild Horse Territory II..

I'm finally getting around to editing more of the wild horse pictures that were taken last May, lol.

The first two pictures below belong to one little group, they were just relaxing in the spring-time sun.

Below is a little band we found late in the morning. This grouip consisted of 2 stallions, one mare and one foal... It was breeding season and I'm pretty sure there was some scuffling about who's mare it was.

Oh, this band below.. my favorites. I've only gotten to see them once, by walking out into the meadow where they were. (although my hubby has seen them on a couple different occasions.) Even walking out there, my Nikkor 70-300 lens was maxed out. With breeding season and foaling season underway, we weren't going to chance getting to close, on foot.  I thought "that''s ok, we'll find them again over the summer" Ha. Little did I know they would disappear into thin air.

 Busted!!

This bay mare never moved from this spot, she had a new foal laying in the brush.

I hope you enjoy seeing the wild horses, I know I did. However I didn't see another herd until August! I will share those with you soon.

Lizzie - Artistic Photograph

This is Lizzie. She is a Working Australian Kelpie. I was playing with Photoshop the other night, and this is the end result. It's fun, and I'm having a great time playing... enjoy!

"The Lesson"

I needed a test post, so how about an oldie?
This is "The Lesson",11"x14", graphite on letramax illustration board ( I think??) finished in 1995.

This is one of my daughters, during her riding lessons.. her teacher is a good friend of ours. I always loved watching Naomi give lessons, because she talked with her hands. It was great to watch and was my inspiration for this piece. I hope you can see it too.

Colored Pencil over Oils....

A while back, when I didn't feel like working I was going thru some unfinished pieces I had packed away. I came across this oil painting. I thought.. I wonder if I can put colored pencil over it, what the heck, why not give it a shot..

So I did.

I've been fiddling with this on and off all summer, but yesterday I was able to work on it all day. By the afternoon I  decided I was close to calling it finished so I would share. A few hours more should do it, but here it is, as yet it is untitled.

12"x12" on a canvas panel.
